About

NZF is the only platform that receives your Zakat and distributes it to thousands of Muslims in need across the UK.

The organisation aim to make the whole process easy, so that you can enjoy this important act of worship.

For all applications 

To apply, you must be a Muslim living in the UK and be able to demonstrate that you are unable to afford the housing costs you are applying for help with. To confirm that you can get help, They will look at how much money you have, your monthly income and expenses. 

If you are seeking asylum, a full-time student, on a student visa, work permit or have no status in the UK, then you are not able to apply. 

To apply for help from National Zakat Foundation you must have your own email address, mobile phone number and a device able to connect to the internet.

 

Services

  • Hardship Relief Fund

The Hardship Relief Fund gives grants for basic costs to vulnerable Muslims in the UK who are unable to pay for basic living costs.

  • Housing Fund

The Housing Fund gives grants to help Muslims in the UK who need support to live in affordable, liveable and safe accommodation.To provide additional help as the UK emerges from the Covid pandemic, the Housing Fund has increased support with Council Tax and Rent arrears, and has introduced rent top-up support so families can stay in their homes.

Arrears

For Rent arrears

  • To apply for help with rent arrears, the rent you owe must be on the home you live in now. Also: 

  • Your tenancy must be secured or an Assured Shorthold Tenancy for a minimum of 6 months

  • You must be entitled to Housing Benefit or the housing element of Universal Credit

  • If you owe more than £1,000 in rent, you will need to apply for and get a decision on a Discretionary Housing Payment (DHP) click here for more informationand a payment plan from your council or Housing Association before you apply to us.

  • They will look at your income and your rent to make sure that you will be able to afford your rent going forward.

* They cannot help you with rent arrears if you owe more than £3,000. 

Council Tax arrears

  • To apply for help with your Council Tax, they will need the council tax bill which confirms the amount you owe. 

  • The bill can only be paid one month after the issue date, for example if you receive your bill dated 2nd April 2021 they can pay this in May 2021. 

For household items 

  • To apply for help with household items, you must submit a full signed tenancy agreement which confirms that you reside at the current property. 

Rent shortfall

  • They can top up the shortfall of ongoing rent for a period of 3 months. This is paid direct to the Landlord, Council, Housing Association. 

  • They will need your rent statement which confirms the monthly rent and any arrears that you may have, also your full Universal Credit Statement which has a breakdown of your payments. If you are working then your current wage or salary slip. 

Work Fund

  • The grant will support you to work in your desired field and you will have the added reassurance of job security and stability, God willing.

 

Education Fund

  • The Education Fund gives grants for education and training to help Muslims who can demonstrate a high level of commitment to community service, to help them to better serve Islam and Muslims in the UK.
